Unter dem Titel “Sweet Ayres“ möchten wir sowohl Vokal- als auch Instrumentalmusik des Hoch- und Spätbarock auf unserer CD zu Gehör bringen. Neben bekannten Meisterwerken erklingen auch unbekannte Stücke. Die Mehrdeutigkeit des Titels, zu Deutsch vielleicht am besten mit „gelinde Lüfte / süße Melodien“ übersetzt, soll auf die Schönheit der Kompositionen hinweisen. Gleichzeitig soll aber auch auf die Grundvoraussetzung von Klangerzeugung bei der menschlichen Stimme und den verschiedenen Blas- und Saiteninstrumenten aufmerksam gemacht werden; schließlich ist Luft auch zur Verbreitung von Klängen notwendig. 
Der überwiegende Teil der aufgenommenen Werke wurde in Großbritannien geschaffen; die Verbindung zu Italien ist dennoch deutlich spürbar: So sind die eingespielten Instrumentalstücke ganz eindeutig im „welschen“ Stil komponiert.  Händel hatte sogar schon vor seinem vierjährigen Aufenthalt in Florenz, Rom, Neapel und Venedig Werke in italienischer Sprache vertont.
Das Ensemble DAL Barocco wurde von Dearbhla Nolan (Irland), Ana Navarro (Chile) und Laura Barchetti (Italien) noch während ihrer gemeinsamen Studienzeit an der UdK <Berlin> mit dem Ziel gegründet, Werke für Sopran, Alt und Trompete aufzuführen. Die Gruppe, verstärkt durch Spezialisten aus Australien, Deutschland, Mexiko und der Ukraine, präsentierte ihr Programm „Sweet Ayres“ erstmals 2024 in Berlin-Weißensee.

The Album “Sweet Ayres,” presents vocal and instrumental music from the High and Late Baroque periods. Alongside well-known masterpieces, lesser-known pieces are also featured. The title refers to arias and instrumental music (featuring wind instruments such as trumpet, oboe, bassoon and recorders), but is also a nod to the peculiar English spelling of the time, and furthermore, to the baroque concept of musical affects and humours: Good or sweet ayres were thought to bring health and good cheer, whereas bad/evil airs or humours brought disease or ill humour!
The majority of the recorded works were composed in Great Britain; however, the connection to Italy is clearly evident: the instrumental pieces are unmistakably composed in the Italian style. Handel had even set works in Italian to music before his four-year stay in Florence, Rome, Naples, and Venice.
The ensemble DAL barocco was founded by Dearbhla Nolan (Ireland), Ana Navarro (Chile), and Laura Barchetti (Italy) while they were still studying together at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) with the aim of performing works for soprano, alto, and trumpet. The group, augmented by specialists from Australia, Germany, Mexico, and Ukraine, performed their Sweet Ayres programme for the first time in 2024 in Berlin-Weißensee.
